Ontario’s Next Top Entrepreneur Start-up Pitch Competition
Do you have an innovative start-up idea? Are you looking for your next big break? Well here is your chance!
Present your idea in a short video, telling us why it could be the next big thing. The top five teams will move on to deliver their pitch at Ontario Centres of Excellence’s (OCE) Discovery 2010 conference. The winning team will be enrolled in OCE’s Centre for Commercialization of Research’s New Entrepreneur Program where they will be granted a non-recourse micro-loan of up to $18,000 ($6,000 per team member), have access to advisory services, and have the opportunity to network with key mentors and private investors.

Have you ever thought about working at, or starting your own new company? Come out to Start-OP, and find out what it takes!

The event aims to bring together start-ups, venture capitalists and research institutions from the Kitchener-Waterloo region to chat with University of Waterloo students and demystify the exciting and adventurous world of entrepreneurship. Students will get  to connect with some of the most successful Canadian-born companies and some newer up-and-coming companies. This program will emphasize entrepreneurship as a co-op option for students and give a chance to start-up companies in Waterloo to market their profile and name. Don’t forget your business cards!

  • When: Wednesday March 24th, 2010 at 5:30pm to 7:30pm
  • Where: Tatham Centre, University of Waterloo (200 University Ave. W.)

VeloCity Entrepreneur Bootcamp

Are you a student entrepreneur that has an exciting idea but are having challenges finding working space, funding and other resources to get your business off the ground? Here’s an exciting opportunity that you absolutely cannot miss out on!

The University of Waterloo is partnering up with Centre of Commercialization of Research/Ontario Centres of Excellence to create a program dedicated to supporting 3 teams of student entrepreneurs to see their idea from the beginning stages to a final product/service. This competition is open to all post-secondary student entrepreneurs from Canada!

What you can gain:

Requirements:

  • You are a student enrolled in a Canadian post-secondary institution at the time of the application.
  • Must be able to commit to working on startup full-time from May through July. (not engaged in coursework or other employment).
